Smart City Warsaw – how technology is changing residents' lives

You praise others, but you don't know your own. Warsaw is a very interesting example of a smart city in the world! This is confirmed by the latest IMD Smart City Index 2025, in which the Polish capital rose by as many as 10 positions and took a high 28th place among the 146 cities from around the world analysed.

Smart City Warsaw – how technology is changing residents' lives

Piotr Mieczkowski, managing director of our foundation and member of the Dialogue Committee for Digitalisation of the Capital City of Warsaw, talked about what lies behind Warsaw's success and what the future of urban digitalisation looks like in an interview with Kamil Dąbrowa in the city's video podcast ‘Warszawa Mówi’ (Warsaw Speaks).

What did we talk about?

- Which apps do Warsaw residents love the most – from 19115 to MobiWawa?

- Why does no one ask passers-by for directions anymore?

- How can technology connect rather than exclude?

- What solutions can other cities learn from Warsaw?

- Why is it worth saying goodbye to paper and stamps?

- And... what does Papa Smurf have to do with artificial intelligence?

At the host's request, Piotr also spoke about his dream and a question addressed to Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski – to use AI to automate at least one metro or tram line, using domestic solutions that will drive our innovations and companies such as PESA. There are already hundreds of lines operating in this way around the world, e.g. in Paris, Dubai and even Budapest.

We encourage you to watch the ‘Warszawa Mówi’ videocast to see why Warsaw is a true Smart City of the future.
