Digital Poland Foundation co-founds AI Poland - KIGEIT's new initiative for the development of artificial intelligence in Poland

During the Digital Summit and European AI Forum in Gdansk, the Digital Poland Foundation, as one of the main founders, formally established AI Poland - an initiative integrating key companies, organisations, institutions and educators working in the field of artificial intelligence in Poland. The goal of AI Poland is to build a strong, innovative and ethical AI ecosystem that supports European values, technological sovereignty and national economic development.

- Polish organisations are already creating advanced solutions, including their own large-scale language models (LLMs), contributing to global competitiveness and building intellectual property in Poland. AI Poland is a response to the need to create an integrated ecosystem that will connect startups, scaleups, research institutes, academia, corporations and VC/PE funds. We believe that joint projects, international consortia and accelerating the adoption of AI in business and government will allow Poland to become a leader in this field. As the Digital Poland Foundation, together with the European AI Forum, which brings together over 2,200 AI startups from 12 countries, we want to support the internationalisation of the Polish AI market," says Piotr Mieczkowski, Managing Director of the Digital Poland Foundation and President of AI Poland.

AI Poland was formally founded by more than 40 organisations within the National Chamber of Commerce for Electronics and Telecommunications (KIGEiT), the oldest and largest ICT chamber in Poland, with more than 216 entities. They include AI ecosystem leaders such as Bielik.ai, CampusAI, Deviniti, nomagic.ai, QED Software, Sages, Synerise, VoiceLab.ai, NGOs including Digital Poland Foundation and Innovative Poland, educators including Karol Stryja, Artur Kurasinski, Prof Andrzej Sobczak, as well as advisors, law firms, research institutes and corporations. The initiative is being observed by the Central Informatics Centre and NASK - National Research Institute.

AI Poland's main objectives:

  • Building an AI ecosystem in Poland: Creating a platform for networking, supporting cooperation between business, science and administration and initiating partnership and R&D projects.

Education and awareness-raising: Promoting awareness of AI through events, reports, analyses and guides, with a focus on educating SMEs on the benefits and challenges of AI.

Representing the interests of the AI sector: Ensuring a strong voice for the Polish AI ecosystem at home, in Brussels and internationally, including participation in legislative processes.

Promoting ethics and standards in AI: Developing technical standards and codes of ethics to ensure safety and legal compliance.

Competency development: Cooperation with universities to adapt curricula and support the development of human resources in the AI sector.
