In an era when American and Chinese social media platforms dominate our infosphere, Europe faces the challenge of regaining full control over democratic processes, cultural identity and information sovereignty. Today, the vast majority of disinformation is generated by bots and entities outside Europe. This was demonstrated, for example, by the events of the weekend – the revelation of the source of the account on X.
That is why we need to talk about this issue, and tomorrow, 25 November 2025, from 11:15 to 12:15, at the InterContinental Hotel, we will take part in a panel discussion: ‘How to regain control of the infosphere?’ at IGF Poland 2025 organised by the Ministry of Digital Affairs and NASK.
Together with experts, we will discuss key issues such as:
domination of non-European platforms – do we need our own digital tools?
automation and bots – how to recognise and limit them?
the impact of disinformation on democratic processes, elections and social movements.
fact-checking in a crisis – how to rebuild an independent verification ecosystem
strategies for regaining control of the infosphere: regulations (e.g. the Digital Services Act), new business models, investment in innovation, education and civic initiatives.
Financing independent media resistant to disinformation.
Supporting media literacy and critical thinking in society.
The panel will feature outstanding experts:
Aleksandra Wrona, Vice-President of the Pravda Association
Piotr Mieczkowski, Managing Director of the Digital Poland Foundation
Dr Karina Stasiuk-Krajewska, Professor at SWPS University, SWPS, CEDMO
Karolina Sznajder, Public Affairs Director, Ringier Axel Springer Polska
Moderator: Marcel Kiełtyka, Board Member of the Demagog Association
