Disinformation, influence operations and cognitive attacks are having an increasingly significant impact on public debate, democratic processes, the economy and national security. Participants at Poland’s first REINFO Information Security Congress, to be held on 22–23 September in Białystok, will discuss how to effectively strengthen the public’s information resilience.
How can we effectively build society’s resilience to disinformation? We will be seeking answers to this question on 22–23 September at REINFO 2026 – the 1st Information Security Congress. This is the first event in Poland entirely dedicated to the issues of disinformation, infosphere security and building information resilience. The Congress is funded by the Ministry of Digital Affairs and organised by the Zamenhof Institute.
REINFO was established in response to the growing significance of information threats in the modern world. The manipulation of information is no longer solely a problem for social media. Today, it affects national security, the functioning of the economy, the quality of public debate and citizens’ trust in institutions. Effectively countering these phenomena requires cooperation between government, academia, civil society organisations, the media and the technology sector.
The event programme demonstrates the scale of this initiative. Białystok will host 11 panel discussions featuring leading experts, over 20 expert presentations and fact-checking workshops, as well as numerous debates and networking sessions. The organisers expect over 400 participants representing various communities and sectors, whilst over 50 experts from Poland and abroad will contribute their expertise to the event.
The Digital Poland Foundation will also be making its voice heard at the congress. Our managing director, Piotr Mieczkowski, will present the key findings from the report ‘Disinformation through the Eyes of Poles 2026’, prepared as part of the Together Against Disinformation Coalition.
The report was produced in collaboration with the PZU Foundation and T-Mobile Polska. The publication’s content partners are: Konkret24, NASK – the National Research Institute, Ringier Axel Springer Polska, the Demagog Association, TVN Warner Bros. Discovery and SWPS University. Together, we are analysing the scale of the disinformation problem in Poland, the level of public awareness and citizens’ expectations regarding ways to counter information manipulation.
What is particularly valuable is that REINFO is not intended to be merely a forum for the exchange of views. The organisers’ ambition is to develop concrete recommendations for public policy and to create a sustainable platform for cooperation between communities involved in safeguarding the information space. In a world where the battle for citizens’ attention and trust is becoming one of the key dimensions of security, such initiatives are needed more than ever before.
